DESCRIPTION:Guest Speaker: Robert Von Bernewitz\, Yaphank Historical Society Board Member and Local Historian \nTopic:   “Benjamin Tallmadge and the Tallmadge Trail” \nIn honor of Independence Day\, Yaphank Historical Society board member Robert von Bernewitz will give a presentation on Long Island born\, Revolutionary hero\,  Benjamin Tallmadge  and the Tallmadge Trail. After the British won the battle of Brooklyn and occupied Long Island\, Major Tallmadge led a series of successful raids to harass the British troops. General George Washington also tapped Tallmadge to lead an espionage ring of Long Island Spies. Come hear about how the Long Island Culper Spy Ring played a major role in winning the Revolutionary  War and take a photographic journey down the Tallmadge Trail.
