April 2010

Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Booth House Restoration Fund. We've had a wonderful response, and if you haven't had a chance to send your donation in, please do...we are not on a timeline! We are hoping to have the e!ectrical work completed during the summer months, and then get the plastering completed in the fall. Your donations, and a $5,000 grant through the efforts of Legislator Kate Browning, will make this happen!

The April General Meeting is Thursday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. MaryLaura Lamont, docent at the William Floyd Estate, will be our guest speaker. Please don't miss this meeting! She has a wealth of information on the Floyd family.

The spring Victorian Tea is Saturday, April 24, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Reservations are still being accepted. Please contact Kayann Donaldson at 395.9870, or the Hisforical Society.number, 924.3401, soon to be sure you are a part of this wonderful afternoon. And ladies, if you are so inclined, please wear your Victorian finery!

On Sunday, May 16, at 10:00 a.m., noted local naturalist, Dava Stravinsky, will conduct a nature tour of the Sanctuary and Trail concentrating on native flora. In conjunction with the nature tour, our friends at the Mill House Inn are sponsoring a fundraiser for the Society for any food the remainder of the day. Please look elsewhere in the Newsletter for a coupon to be presented to your server. What a fun day! A little knowledge, a little exercise, and good food and drink!!!

The Community Yard Sale is Saturday, May 22 (no rain date). As usual, there will be no charge for the space. The yard sale will begin at 10:00 a.m. and close at 3:00 p.m. Bring your own table and chairs and spend some time with your neighbors! Please leave a message on our answering machine, 924.3401, if you would like a space or if you have any questions.

Hope to see you at any or all of these upcoming events! And ... we have a special trip being planned for either the last weekend of September or the first weekend of October ... more to come .... - Helen Kalbach, President
